An autobiography detailing the memories of Ian von Heintze. Born in London, of Polish descent, he divides his story between the exploits of his immediate Polish relatives during the Second World War commenting on his own experiences of life in England and later in Ethiopia, at the end of the reign of Emperor Haile Selassie I. Becoming one of the youngest recruits to London’s Metropolitan Police in the 1970’s, Ian’s account outlines the link between his early experiences and later choices of postings during his twenty-five year career as a policeman - much of it spent protecting the Royal Family.
