Horace Panter, aka Sir Horace Gentleman, is a founder member of The Specials, one of the seminal bands of the post-Punk era. In parallel with his musical career Panter has established himself as a prolific and gifted painter. Inspired by Pop Art, Rousseau and the Abstract Expressionists, he has created a distinguished body of work. ‘Art’ showcases Panter’s finest paintings to date, in several thematic series - Sony Walkman and cassette paintings, rock stars, blues icons, robots - and a number of striking portraits of friends, colleagues and strangers. This collection of images is by turns playful and deeply serious, mournful and witty.
