The High King and Other Tales

I have always loved fairy tales, says the author, Edith Hartnett,
and have never felt they should be seen simply as entertainment for children. The fairy tale that is true to its genre unlocks another, far broader, kingdom of the mind. We came onto this planet aware of certain innate truths: good is stronger than evil, life is a quest to achieve a higher goal, and ultimately we are united with our Beloved and made whole. Later on, these truths become clouded by the stress of our busy lives. The fairy tale recalls them to us.
