Wind from the West: Moon Over the Manukau

Moon over the Manukau commences on an Awhitu valley farm at midnight 1900, with the engagement of Ben and Priscilla, who became pioneer farmers. Ben has two sisters: ill tempered Jane whose life revolves around milking cows, and making butter and cheese, and capricious Alison who falls in and out of love, never to her father’s approval. In Auckland Priscilla’s sister Emily has married into money, and proceeds to make more of it, yet is generous to a fault. She is only too pleased to show her country cousins the city’s social scene. The book concludes at the end of World War 1.
