Granville Fortescue had been an American soldier since 1898 and during the First World War wrote for the Daily Telegraph. As a neutral American he could travel in Turkey and was able to witness at first hand the situation from the Turkish perspective and he also knew many of the journalists who were covering events from the Allied side. His previous military experience and his time in Japan gave him a good insight into the issues of the campaign.This short book gives an interesting insight into the Gallipoli campaign.
