The poems of this year’s anthology reflect the spirit of Friendly Street’s members. There’s sorrow there, frustration, hardship, and fear, reflecting the often unstable world we live in. Underlying it all, however, is an undeniable strength: the determination to live and love at all costs; this is why human beings need poetry; this is why Friendly Street - Australia’s longest running poetry reading - and its annual reader continue to thrive.
