These volumes contain the annual reports from the British diplomatic representatives in Arabia, including ambassadors, ministers and the Political Resident in the Gulf, from 1930 to 1960. All reports and surveys are included, as well as any valedictory reports from departing ambassadors or ministers. Included are annual reports of Iraq from 1932 to 1960, reports from Jordan from 1946 to 1960, reports from the Persian Gulf from 1948 to 1960 and annaul reports from the Yemen from 1952 to 1960. The Foreign Office first asked each of its 46 missions abroad to write an annual reort in 1906. In 1930 the legislation in Jedda was the first diplomatic post in Arabia to produce an annual report on Hejaz-Nejd, although in the late 1920s it produced an annual index to the Jedda Diaries which was intended to serve as a limited annual report. The reports cover all internal events of significance in each country, with details of trade and economic activitiy and external relations with neighbour states, with Britain and other powers included.
