The Pickering Masters Works of Mary Wollstonecraft is the first and only collected edition containing all the known published writings, including Wollstonecraft’s translations of Young Grandison , Of the Importance of Religious Opinions and Elements for Morality for the Use of Children , as well as her journalism and reviews. The editors have collated the texts of different editions of Wollstonecraft’s work, with variant readings as footnotes to show clearly the development and revision of her thought and style. Texts of the second edition of the Elements of Morality , A Vindication of the Rights of Men and A Vindication of the Rights of Woman have been collated with variant readings. Comprehensive footnotes clarify the text and source all quotations cited. In addition to the standard pagination, the original page numbers have been retained, to allow access from contemporary sources.
