REST UPON THE WIND is a play about the birth of a book. The book is ‘The Prophet’. A book written by a Lebanese poet/painter who lived in America a hundred years ago. His name is Khalil Gibran. It is a book that is still bought, read and quoted by millions of people across the world.
This generous, moving script celebrates the relationship of Khalil and his sister Miryanna as they struggle to adapt to their new life as Lebanese immigrants in America. Memories of childhood and Khalil’s own spiritual awakening in Mount Lebanon are juxtaposed with the everyday bustle of the Lebanese Enclave of Boston’s Chinatown, . It provides an insight into the poet’s environment and the people who had a strong impact on his life.
