Book Review

Natural World: A Visual Compendium of Wonders from Nature
by AJ Wood,Mike Jolley

by Athina Clarke, Jun 2016

The Curiositree is a wonderful introduction to the natural world – an informative and visually compelling look at how plants and animals adapt and survive in their natural environment and the interconnectedness of it all.

It’s an attractive and interesting mix of old style scientific and botanic drawings and modern graphic design – a beautiful museum in a book. But there’s nothing dusty about this museum; we find ourselves exclaiming at the wonders of nature, scientifically organised – there’s both a magic and a logic to it all.

Start reading at any point and enjoy what it has to offer, or follow the navigational paths to uncover the underlying order of the natural world. There’s plenty here to learn for both children and adults alike. It’s ideal for families to share and will teach and delight anyone with a curiosity about nature.

The Curiositree is beautifully illustrated and produced with love, care and thought; even the dust jacket turns into a large wall poster you’ll want to display. Highly recommended for ages 7 and up and a ‘must have’ for all family (and school) libraries.
