Caroline and Us is a touching story of a Welsh family’s ups and downs. Mabel tells the story of her adoption by her Aunt Caroline, Carrie to her friends and family, when her mother died. She recounts her life growing up in a mining community; a way of life which brought many hardships along the way.

Moving to London during the interwar years, the family suffers the loss of loved ones as well as financial difficulty. However, Mabel has fond and often humorous memories of Carrie’s resourcefulness in holding the family together. Having fulfilled the role as carer during Carrie’s final years, Mabel can now look back on her aunts’ life and celebrate a remarkable lady.

Ultimately, Caroline and Us reminds us that, above all else, family matters.
