Delivering the Word: Preaching and Exegesis in the Western Christian Tradition

Biblical texts have been used consistently in sermons throughout Christian history. Preachers have transformed the texts into an aural experience, using them to evangelize, educate, edify, exhort, or even terrify, their audiences.
