The summer of 2016 will always be remembered fondly by Craig Burton. The Hampshire cricket team had a dismal season and the England football team flopped in the European championships in France but despite those failures Craig was living the dream.

After working for Southampton City Council for over 30 years, and facing an uncertain future, he decided to leave his job and have a well deserved summer off.

The six months that followed saw him at most of Hampshire’s home games, and at a good few away games, taste the big tournament football atmosphere in the South of France, go horseracing, laze about at music festivals as well as drink too much and take up swimming to keep fit.

This book is a diary of a cricket nut’s summer off following his team’s fortunes from near and far. It is a book detailing an action packed summer doing all of the things you would like to do if you didn’t have to go to work. A book to remind me of what I’d like summers to be like again in the future.
