For Peter, it’s a glorious day of scuba diving off the coast of Devon. Suddenly he sees a flash of bright light above the water but thinks nothing of it. Little does he realise that something catastrophic has happened, something that will change his life for ever.
We follow his adventures with his girlfriend, Tammy, as they cope with a world where almost every human being has perished. Peter’s skills as an amateur radio operator come in very useful when he picks up a message from the crew of a scientific space station, who have also survived.
The crew reports the existence of large ant-like aliens who have appeared from Mars in their spaceships. What are the intentions of these aliens? Are they a threat to what remains of human civilisation?
This is a chilling and exciting story of survival in a broken world. The future is a big question mark.
The author, Eric J R Stevenson, was born in Erith, Kent in the early nineteen-thirties. He had many minor jobs before joining the Army Medical Services in which he spent most of his adult life, ending up as a Staff Sergeant. Now retired he lives in Scarborough, North Yorkshire.
