In January 2001, Margaret Reichel arrived in Istanbul, Turkey. Her many travels took her all over Turkey - in the north Izmit, then east along the Black Sea to Georgia; in the south to Izmir, Bodrum and Marmara, with a slight detour to Rhodes, Greece. Then she travels east towards the Syrian border.
Writings is the diary she kept as she travelled, noting all historical features of the places she visited. Her journey is done on a shoe-string budget which perhaps makes her adventures more interesting and intriguing as she visits those ‘out of the way’ places.
Writings is interesting and informative without weighing down the reader with heavy facts. A must for anyone considering trekking through the ‘wilds’ of Turkey and the busy streets of Istanbul.
