Brian’s life began in working class Leicester before the 2nd World War. It has been a good life, successful at work, enjoyable at play and useful in the community. Family life has been a joy.
Throughout, he has been at the forefront of change and innovation, from the exploration of supersonic flight in war-torn Coventry in the 1950s to the birth of financial services regulation in the City of London in the 1980s, and much else in between.
Brian was awarded the OBE in 1997.
He would gladly swap all of this success to rid his wife of the curse of mental illness, which has blighted much of her later life.
