Waiting for the Feckin Corncrakes

In this pandemic story, Peter Sheridan, an inveterate bachelor in his forties, a phlegmatic loner, content with his life, suddenly finds himself the guardian of his two nephews after his sister and her husband are killed. Seeking to wriggle her way into his life is the formidable character of Denise, who considers Peter a potential husband who might provide a home for her and her daughter.
