Michael P. Hornsby-Smith is Emeritus Professor of Sociology at the University of Surrey. His ground-breaking research into changes in Catholic lay opinion in the post Vatican II era include Roman Catholics in England (1987) and Catholic Beliefs in England (1991). In addition, he has been engaged in justice and peace issues for many years and is a former Chair of the Arundel and Brighton Diocesan Justice and Peace Commission. This book draws extensively from his daily diary entries over the last ten years of his 62-year-long marriage with Lennie prior to her death from mixed dementia in 2023. It sets out the challenges of ageing and mental health decline in the context of a lifelong Catholic faith.
