On 24 January 2020, Colin's partner, Deidre, receives an unanticipated diagnosis of Stage 4 breast cancer which had spread to her lungs and liver. They are devastated by the news, and their life plans appear shattered.

It reflects the challenges faced by those surrounding the patient as they confront their inevitable feelings of inadequacy and powerlessness and adapt to their new circumstances while trying to maintain a normal life.
