As a result, the name of this diet is a mash-up of the phrases flexible and vegetarian. Vegetarians abstain from meat and other animal items, but vegans abstain entirely from meat, fish, eggs, dairy, and other animal-derived dietary products. Flexitarians are neither vegetarians or vegans since they consume animal products.
