He was also the winner of the Dunlavin Festival of Arts Short Story Competition in 2001 and the Ireland's Own Short Story Competition in 2022. He has contributed numerous articles and chapters to many journals and compilations, and his eleven previously published books include The Little Book of Wicklow. He continues to write and lecture in his retirement. 30 b/w illustrations
