The Lords and I survived the Path, but, as it turns out, the Plains aren't the paradise they say. Darkness and danger hide beneath the glittery exterior, and the closer we get to the palace, to where Hubis is, the more I realize just how broken the system really is.

My relationships with the Lords are strained as we face our own pasts, as we learn to trust one another before the Plains can tear us apart. I might love them, but I'm not stupid enough to think that means a happily-ever-after.

Absolute power has twisted and corrupted every other person who has wielded it, so can anyone be trusted with it? Even if we succeed, if we can overcome Hubis, if we get everything we want, will that power end up destroying me?
