Ruby was brilliant at music and art. In fact, she was better than her teachers. She was bored at school and bunked off into town. There she met Yvonne, selling the Big Issue. Yvonne was a drug addict trying to kick the habit. They became friends. Yvonne told Ruby to never take drugs; that they could ruin your life. It had ruined hers. She should be studying history at university now, but instead she was selling the Big Issue and living hand to mouth.

Ruby formed a band that she called Ruby Kind. She wrote the music for all the instruments herself. Ruby was offered the chance to turn professional, but her band all wanted to go to university.

Ruby traced her family tree back to Bruno Magrioni. He was a fabulously wealthy Venetian merchant, and he had left his fortune to anyone who could prove that they were descended from him. After a lot of work Ruby established that she was descended from Bruno, and opened up his house and safety deposit box at the Vatican Bank, revealing a treasure chest of gold, jewels and priceless works of art, which raised over GBP32,000,000 at auction.
