This is a fantasy time travel adventure in England superimposed over serious issues relating to development of the English language and the climate change emergency.

A family of four (two adults and pair of adopted twins) find themselves transported back to the 6th Century when groups of immigrants from northern Europe are starting to colonise a countryside which is replete with decaying remains of Roman military and civilian infrastructure.

As a result of the group's various adventures, the two parents discover both children are themselves time travellers from the Saxon period, a discovery which adds a further dimension to the story.

Ultimately, the family are able to return to the 21st century but with questions remaining over the merits of such a switch.

After concluding a career in finance, author Nigel Cole established and operated a successful in-bound travel company for thirteen years. Subsequently, he leveraged a lifelong interest in the Roman period and increasingly that of the Saxons to form the basis of A Trip Into Saxon Times. Here he uses a fantasy, time travel adventure to illustrate the transition from Roman to Saxon culture in England whilst highlighting linguistic developments and the impact of the Industrial Revolution on climate change through to present day.

Nigel has also published an 800-page travel guide entitled Visitors' Guide to Scotland (ISBN 9781916133204)
