But, like any adversity that has to be faced, expressing fears, distress and hopes in writing can help up cope with our emotions during difficult times. In all previous years, we have been able to hold an awards presentation for our finalists. A second event when finalists are presented with a copy of the published collection of their stories and poems, would always follow later in the year. This year, due to social distancing and safety regulations, holding these events may not be possible. Whatever happens we will find other ways to congratulate our incredible young finalists, encourage them in continuing to keep their imagination alive and support them to persevere with their writing. And, there’s always next year!
