2. The war is over. The family find refuge in a camp for Displaced People. Elsa makes her way to the UK to work as a nurse. She marries again and the family move to the Scottish Highlands. Peace at last? No. Fate has one more trick up her sleeve.

This is a firsthand account of an ordinary family faced by huge challenges in a cauldron of unprecedented suffering. It is also a story of unexpected victory, thanks to the grace of God.
