This is my third book of poetry. New Wine Press published Sic Transit in 2015 and The Long and Short of It in 2019. Some poetic notions have kicked around in my head for years; many popped up with the need to pee at 3 or 4 in the night. "First comes the flash; then comes the work," said painter Andrew Wyeth. Finding a sip of truth in the just-right word, hearing the music in a sought-for phrase, give me pleasure, and somehow ease the void since my wife died in 2006. Her painting graces the front cover. A few of these poems are a bit preachy, but at 92 I think you will forgive me.
