David "Davy" Crockett was an early 1800s folk hero, frontier woodsman, scout, soldier, and politician. Known as the "King of the Wild Frontier", he grew up poor and uneducated but ended up as a Congressman from Tennessee. He had a reputation for deer and bear hunting and storytelling.
