Barry Bagtrott is a 16 year old from a small medieval town called byrot. He gets recruited by an older man named Rowan. Rowan is an expert adventurer funded by a secret academy of explorers. The academy pursues the things in life that are to be believed only in folklore and myths. When in fact they are not, they are just not applicable by most people in the general population. People who can see these things are able to use a higher percentage of their brain and are recruited at a young age to be kept away from the rest of the world until they are able to understand and use their ability to better the world. At the beginning of Barry's journey he meets four people who seem to be very likely friends for Barry. Alice, a pretty girl who he rescues on the way to the academy has a falling out with her father and joins him at the Academy. Once they arrive at the Academy they meet three others, Aldith, Alexander, and Gerard. They will all soon see that things are not as they seem at the school nor in the rest of the world. How will they react, will they follow in the footsteps of the past explorers? Or will they defend what the Academy is supposed to stand for?
