Brian J Smith was one of a large family, born into poverty and what would now be called, a slum dwelling.

He did his part - passed the 11 plus, but poverty denied him a grammar school education. It seemed he was destined to be amongst the ‘also- rans’. As if in confirmation, he left secondary school at 15 years of age without a solitary citation and spent a few years meandering between jobs.

Then came the change - Brian returned to school, college to be precise. His achievements there earned him a position with a major High Street banks. He passed his professional examinations and was admitted into the Chartered Institute of Bankers. He went on to qualify to lecture at colleges and universities and to earn a BSc (Hons) in psychology.

He is now a member of the British Psychological Society, registered as a debt psychologist.
