Simon Orford is a thirty-year-old university graduate who has had a variety of different but uninspiring jobs and despite recently marrying Amanda, he feels deeply dissatisfied with the direction his life is taking. Wanting to help people and make a difference to society, he decides to join the police service.

This decision dismays his socially ambitious wife and will ultimately lead to the breakup of the marriage. After a lengthy selection and training process, Simon finally achieves his ambition and becomes a police officer.

However, the reality is different to Simon’s dreams of life as a police officer and as the years drift by the now divorced PC becomes more and more disillusioned at the lack of opportunities and the unfairness of the legal system. With his equally disillusioned colleague, long serving PC George Lawrence, they decide to embark on an unusual crime fighting strategy.

Chris Bailey-Green spent almost twenty years in the police service before becoming a full-time writer. Crossing the Thin Blue Line is his third novel
