These notes were produced by the General Staff (Intelligence) at GHQ BEF in May 1918 and they provide an interesting commentary on thirty-four active (i.e. in existence prior to the outbreak of war) divisions that at one time or other faced the BEF on the Western Front. The details given include the original composition of the division and a year by year summary of its activities, sometimes with casualty figures, and an assessment of its fighting quality. Any changes in composition are also noted. In each case the name of the GOC is given.
