Who will share the Eulogy? My life as a young, Canadian, female funeral director shares just a few of my experiences from deciding at the young age of 18 years old, in small town Alberta, to walk into our local funeral home, with the idea that I could learn to change the stigma behind funeral directors and the funeral profession as a whole.

Being a young female, with no family connection to the funeral profession, I was an oddity.

At the age of 19 years old, when I completed school, obtaining both my Funeral Director and Embalmer Licenses, I was even more of a rarity.

With over 18 years of experience in the profession under my belt, I have seen a lot and faced my fair share of adversity. Even after everything I have seen and experienced, I would not change a single life choice when it comes to my decision to enter this profession.

Having my career span and thrive throughout my own family members passing, starting a marriage, entering into motherhood, and facing a world wide pandemic, I have many experiences to share, and hope for others to learn from.

This book will give guidance to apprentices thinking of entering the funeral profession, just what they need to be prepared for, beyond what you will ever be taught in class. This book will open the eyes of those curious just what a funeral is actually about and what funeral directors actually do. This book, I hope, will motivate Funeral Directors in the profession, no matter for how long, to keep showing up for the families every day, no matter how bleak and trying the current situation you are facing appears.
