Mackenzie is an adopted child with a fuzzy past. But that’s not the worst of her problems. She sees things that aren’t there. Like that giant mansion squished into the size of a small footpath across from her house. A house belonging to a man by the name of Mr. Frych, or so it says on his mailbox. Just when Mackenzie manages to convince her adoptive parents she no longer needs a psychiatrist, a letter of invitation arrives at the home from none other than Mr. Frych himself. A letter inviting Mackenzie to join the Elites, a special program for gifted students at her school.
At her adoptive parent’s urging, she is placed in gifted classes. But these aren’t just any gifted classes. They’re her ticket to a new and amazing world–the faerie world. But this world is full of strict laws and dire punishments. Mackenzie soon finds herself fighting with some friends she’s made along the way for the freedoms the faerie citizens so desperately need.
But she is still a child and a poorly trained one at that. Will she make it through this ordeal unscathed?
