Gotcha!

French author and illustrator Clotilde Perrin’s newest book is truly a delight!

Open the pages of Gotcha! and you will learn that there are some terrible critters out there: a nasty hairball with frightful fur; a fizzling stinkwort with a rumbling belly; and a creeper dreaming of its next meal. Don’t admire the beautiful illustrations of these creatures for too long though, because they are coming to get you!

Luckily there are three gorgeous houses from familiar fairy tales that make for perfect hiding places.There’s a brick house with some resident pigs, a yummy looking gingerbread cottage and an overgrown castle where everyone has fallen asleep. With 40 lift-the-flaps and interactive elements sprinkled throughout the book, children will eagerly open the cupboards and look through the peepholes to take in all the funny and clever details on each page.

Gotcha! is a magical book of the highest quality. It reminded me of beloved classics like Jan Pienkowski’s classic pop-up book, Haunted House, and the work of Janet and Allan Ahlberg. It’s clever and creative and will be loved by family members of all ages. A perfect book for a special gift. For ages 4+.
