The beautiful and charming translation originally made by Rev. Brownlie has stood the test of time as we can now look back and see with what elegance the very early church used in its worship of the one true God. While we today have taken worship to be more pragmatic and more existential, the original hymns of the church were mainly focused on the true theological aspects of God that made Him worthy of worship. We often have to take a step back and look at the old texts of the church to regain a truthful look at the Bible and worship is no different as this text takes us back to a time when worship was different.
