Weekend Dad
Naseem Hrab
This is a sensitive, unsentimental story about a kid dealing with his parents’ divorce, a good conversation starter for young readers going through something similar. The story was inspired in part by the author’s own experience. The letter in the story is an abridged version of a letter Naseem’s father wrote for her. The letter was written when Naseem was nine years old, but she only read the letter for the first time after her father died when she was twenty-seven years old. A note about the letter’s origin will be included on the copyright page. Frank Viva, illustrator and designer of this book, is an accomplished, award-winning artist, well known in the picture-book and design worlds. Curriculum connections: Health and daily living / interpersonal relationships, family, divorce; Social studies / cities
