In 1720 Havana, an affable young man, lured into passing a single, counterfeit silver coin, inadvertently triggers a chain reaction of catastrophic events, the first of which tragically claims the life of the captain of the Estrella Norte, an overloaded treasure galleon desperately awaited in near-bankrupt Spain.
Plunder is a fast-paced tale of adventure in which Luis Morales, the young man falsely accused of being responsible for Captain Diaz's horrific death, is suddenly compelled to escape Cuba along with his beloved Sofia, as stowaways aboard that same ill-fated ship.
When the Estrella Norte is destroyed in a hurricane off the coast of Florida, the sole-surviving couple is rescued by a local, benevolent Native American tribe. However, a subsequent ambush, only minutes later, results in injured Luis and pregnant Sofia being enslaved by an aggressive, rival tribe, the Calusa.
More than two hundred and fifty years later, the couple's descendants (two brothers, the younger one, Vance, passive and uncertain about his future; the elder, Kup, obsessed and unscrupulous) seek to recover the galleon's riches-at any cost.
