The Least We Can Do: White Supremacy, Free Speech, and Independent Bookstores

Published in celebration of Independent Bookstore Day 2021, The Least We Can Do is the first in a series of chapbooks by booksellers, for booksellers.
This inaugural instalment is intended to generate critical conversations about the role of bookstores in the preservation and promotion of culture, with particular focus on the distinction between censorship and curation and the ethical questions raised by the proliferation of high profile, and highly profitable, books by controversial political figures. An influential voice amongst independent booksellers, Cook has been a vocal advocate for industry-wide discussion of the moral and ethical dimensions of the writing, publishing, marketing, and selling of books.
