Pioneer Hope
Pioneer Hope
This expressive piece by Frank McKinney recalls the lives of American pioneers. Starting with only the clarinets, the pensive opening melody is thoughtfully stated by the woodwind choir. As the full ensemble enters, the mood quickly transforms into adventurous excitement. Eventually the pioneer struggle is rewarded and hope emerges with strength and resolve with brief statements of This Is My Father's World" and "America, the Beautiful," before the final restating of both themes. Young ensembles will be able to explore all the aspects of musicianship with this well-scored work."
