London in the Sixties. A violent bank robbery. The getaway driver sentenced to death by hanging. His accomplices escape with the money, vanishing entirely. Years later Robert Vere, a vigilant lawyer, together with his fashion journalist partner Yvonne Clarkson, find themselves privy to the contents of the letter, unwittingly triggering a chain of events that bring them to the attention of a ruthless master criminal who will stop at nothing to protect his identity and empire.

Even Vere is not prepared for the twists and turns in store - as unexpected as they are bloody. As the bodies pile up, Vere finds the killer's reach getting closer to everything - and everyone - he loves. Soon he is fighting not only for justice, but for his own life.
