Lead scientists, Joceline Mercier and Rob Pinkert, are in a race against time to identify and contain this strange new virus which follows none of the usual demographical, or social-economic patterns. Its cause is unknown, and it's spreading globally. Its contagion rate is 100%. Anyone infected eventually turns violent and mutates into a Human-Neanderthal Hybrid.

As their research continues, and Joceline stumbles upon the answers, she realizes with horror that this is not the first time it has happened. Everything we thought we knew about our past, and future is thrown into doubt as planet Earth fights back against its biggest threat - Mankind. In London, Jeff Eastwood, a consultant for the UK's emergency council COBRA, can see what is happening. Hoping to save his family he sends his wife, Lynne and young son Danny to a secure CDC facility in Washington, DC where Joceline and Rob are based while he's sent to Balmoral Castle in Scotland with the remaining UK Government, Royal Family, and Armed forces.

When the castle is over-run Jeff escapes and must now make his way to his family believing them to be safe.
