'Naked I came to this wood, and naked I will leave it. Christopher Robin gave me everything, and Christopher Robin has taken everything away.'

The Book of Job is the oldest book in the Bible. It is a strange tale of a man called Job from the land of Uz, with whom God and Satan play a game to see how he will react to suffering. Here it is retold with the help of the characters from Winnie the Pooh. Read as Christopher Robin and his Dad torture Pooh, Piglet advises rebellion, and his friends Owl, Kanga and Rabbit turn on him. Only Baby Roo seems to know what's going on. Marvel as Pooh stays faithful and reaps the rewards from a forgiving, though twisted, 'God'.

The Book of Job is a strange tale: first all of Job's possessions and his children are taken from him, then he suffers physical torment. Finally, he has to endure the criticism and bad advice of his friends.

He suffers and ponders his fate, asking why he is being made to endure all this misfortune when he has always been a good man.

Finally, when it seems Job can take no more, God speaks to him 'from out of a whirlwind'. But god answers none of his questions, and instead proceeds to demonstrate that Job knows nothing, portraying himself as a wizard who created and controls everything. Right down to the strange beasts, Leviathan and Behemoth.

Land of Uz? Whirlwinds? Strange Beasts? There are more than a few similarities to fairytales in the Book of Job.

In homage to the Book of Job here it is retold with the help of the gang from One Hundred Acre Wood. That's Winnie the Pooh and His Friends.

In this retelling, God is played by Christopher Robin. Satan by his Dad. Pooh Bear plays Job and Piglet his wife. Eeyore is the messenger. Owl, Rabbit, Kanga and Baby Roo play Job's friends. The Behemoth is a Heffalump and the Leviathan is a Woozle.
