Through non-linear short prose and shape poems, Inside, The World Is Orange navigates between 1970s suburbia and a present-day assisted living facility where the author’s mother is dying. Grasping for moments of sweetness whereever she can, Orleans grapples with her father’s fear and anger, her mother’s resignation and strength, and her own entangled childhood.
