Following one of his basketball games, Lex's real-life experience inspired the creation of Mario The Lizard. Remember that he wrote this book at the age of five. He saved the lizard from our outdoor cat, Stormy. This book contains a collection of Lex's experiences, most of which occur in his backyard.

During the pandemic, Lex wrote his first book, Lex Adventures: The Lost Lava Rock. Lex's therapist encouraged him to be more active after losing his ability to speak during the pandemic. Lex's therapist advised him not to write a book but to read more books, play sports, and participate in more family activities to aid him with his speech rehabilitation. Lex was devastated by his father's Covid-19 recovery. Lex and his father read books and told stories every morning over breakfast. Lex gained the courage to talk again with the help of his speech pathologist and morning stories with his dad. One of the stories Lex would share with his dad was about lava rocks and wild animals. When The Lost Lava Rock was published, he spoke to hundreds of people at colleges and elementary schools. No one was aware of Lex's speech impediment.

Lex has been writing books and telling stories since he was three years old, during the Pandemic. In the age of CHATGBT, Lex can still tell his own stories without the assistance of AI. Please enjoy exploring Lex M. Avila's imagination.
