Not to Touch the Earth
What started out as a desperate escape became a grueling voyage across the world’s most menacing body of water. In a time when solitude dominated existence and the vast majority of Earth has yet to be inhabited, Nia and Karana find themselves alone in an unknown land. With nothing to rely on except their tribal wisdom and haunted by a dark past, they find themselves leery of their new surroundings. Join them on an incredible venture as they face mysterious enemies while unraveling the downfall of an ancient nomadic people. A journey where confronting the past will prove crucial to ensuring survival in their new world.
Karana’s senses returned to him. His legs unglued from the posture they had frozen in, and he drew in a large gulp of air. ‘Leave now, ’ echoed through his head. In an unorthodox decision, he warranted no further investigation. His feet swiveled to the left, his gaze shot towards their camp, and he took a solitary step back towards Nia. A loud snap rang out in the trees to the side of him. Karana froze again, shifting his attention to the nearby trees. Through squinted eyes he scanned for the origin of the noise. In the dark, his vision could not penetrate the dense branches. In silent desperation, he reached out past the limit of his sight, listening for any minute sound the forest offered. As he zeroed in on the commotion, a shimmer of reflected moonlight caught his eye. The iridescent gleam from a pair of eyes cut through the leaves. A surge of emotion erupted in his body, and a wave of numbness washed over him. Despite a loose, wobbly sensation in his legs, Karana broke into a full sprint towards Nia. The region to his left exploded with the noise of cracking twigs and crunching leaves.
