The Fortunate Fall

Rachel Gibbs closes a major chapter in her life and embarks on a promising new career as Media Liaison and Spokesperson at Empowerment Agency. Yet, a year after being on the job, Rachel discovers her power-hungry boss and CEO of the agency, Roger Williams, is a total nightmare. He stands tall at the top, destroying the livelihoods of anyone who dares to stand up to him. He's completely untouchable despite his double life, using his charm and achievements to garner support from the community as well as his own wife. However, Roger is as dangerously paranoid as he is cruel and suspects betrayal around every corner. Rachel's own work soon becomes sabotaged by Roger once he suspects she's on to him after she befriends disgraced ex-employee Jennifer, who risks her own safety in order to expose Roger's criminal activity.

Roger's cruel actions catch up to him when his neglectful and thieving ways become the focus of an FBI investigation. To make things worse, there are also people outside the law hunting him down, leaving him to constantly look over both shoulders: one for the brass and one for his potential killers. After this, no one is safe-not even Roger's blissfully ignorant assistant, Michelle, who believes her position makes her immune to his ire.

This battle spills out of the agency and into each victim's life, affecting everyone close to them and with deadly consequences. Some will do anything to come out on top, while others become unwitting victims in a war they can't avoid - and a seemingly inscrutable Williams may stop at nothing to ensure his own survival. The whirlwind of love, friendship, and infidelity complicating each character's personal life is nothing compared to the inevitable hurricane of danger that threatens to destroy them completely.
