Prince Khael Stratton, a moderately advanced mystic, returns from a diplomatic mission for his brother, the King, having evaded numerous assassination attempts along the way. Although he plans to enter the kingdom’s capital city unnoticed, he must use his royal signet ring to confirm his identity, pull rank and disrupt a scheme among a few corrupt gate guards and restore law and order.
