Stardust for Breakfast

Stars illuminate the darkness, and even in death their dust becomes the building blocks of the universe, living on in every child, woman, and man. Every morning the stars seem to disappear and make way for daylight. These poems are what is left of the beauty of the night sky while beginning the day, that lingering luminescence lodged within. They showcase the brightness within the bitter pain of being stifled by dogma, yearning for reciprocated love, vanishing in a loveless marriage, divorce, learning how to be alone, dating in my thirties for the first time ever, and finding beauty and joy in being loved for exactly who I am.
