The Joy of Advent: Journey with the People, Events and Prayers at the First Coming of Jesus Christ

The time of ADVENT, culminating in the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, is a time familiar to most of us, but seldom do we take the time to linger over these passages in Scripture. That is the goal of this book. So, please join this joyful journey of faith and invite Jesus to speak to you in new ways as you meet the people, prayers, and events so important to His first coming. In this ten-part journey, you will meet Zechariah, Elizabeth, Blessed Virgin Mary, Joseph, John the Baptist, the Angels, the Shepherds, Simeon, Anna and the Magi, as you travel with them and partake in the most meaningful events in their lives. You will discover three pairs of events related to Jesus’ coming, including two annunciations, two births and two circumcisions. You will pray the four great prayers or canticles of the Church, including, Mary’s Magnificat (Luke 1: 46-55), Zechariah’s Benedictus (Luke 1:67-79), the Angels’ Gloria (Luke 2:14) and Simeon’s Nunc Dimittis (Luke 2:29-32). This journey that will take you back 2000 years ago to some amazing places. Through the Word of God, Jesus wants you to meet His family and friends and the Holy Spirit will be your guide.
